The following survey will take 10 minutes or less. Your feedback is important. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCJKHH5

Thank you for your participation, CIBA and CIBA Foundation

We hope that each of you will make it a point to meet your friends at the starting line for the 2014 Hilly Hundred and head out onto the open road together. You'll want to meet them  here again after the ride for photo ops. Then after Saturday's ride, you can go to the Rest & Recovery Tent for free ice cream, parking lot games and entertainment by the world famous Clown Band.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s largest organized bicycle ride will celebrate its 21st anniversary this year on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Sponsored by the Central Indiana Bicycling Association, Inc. (CIBA), the 21st Annual NITE Ride event will be held at IUPUI’s Carroll Stadium, on West New York Street in downtown Indianapolis, on Saturday, June 28, 2014.  This year, however, the venue has moved to the east side of the stadium where there is much more room than last year, which will allow NITE Riders to park their bicycles inside the venue.

Approximately 4,000 riders of all ages are expected to join bicyclists who will ride from IUPUI to Monument Circle, up to Butler University for a rest stop, continuing on through the Indianapolis Museum of Art and down the White River Parkway back to IUPUI. More than 60 Indianapolis police officers, along with 150 volunteers, will guide the bicyclists along the route.

“This is a great opportunity for family and friends to enjoy a casual nighttime ride through some of Indianapolis’ great neighborhoods and venues,” says NITE Ride Director Roger Stevens. Although the official ride doesn’t start until11 p.m., CIBA also sponsors a morning ride and a dinner ride, free-of-charge the same day.

There are many other activities that everyone can enjoy in addition to the ride, such as  visiting museums, strolling the Indianapolis Zoo, watching an IMAX movie or enjoying a meal at one of the many downtown restaurants or bars,” adds Stevens. “For many, this is one of the best days of the summer.”

Dan Lee developed a love of writing and cycling as a teenager in the 1980s and has stuck with both ever since. Now a public relations specialist for bicycle components maker SRAM, Dan has written The Belgian Hammer, about what it takes for young Americans to make it in pro cycling.  Since the Tour de France began in 1903 only a few more Americans have competed in that than have walked on the moon, and far fewer than the number of Americans who have climbed Everest.  This is the story of the new generation of riders - not yet tainted by drug scandals, but still bursting with hope and potential.  This is for the racers among us - and for all of us!  Prepare to be fascinated!
