Tired of riding by yourself? Missing your CIBA friends and the weekly CIBA rides?
Let’s try CIBA Rides on Zwift!
We can set up a group ride where you can see your friends virtually and ride with them for an hour or so. You can chat with them (via keyboard) and, unlike real life, you can ride as fast or as slow as you want. Zwift will keep us all together in a bunch – if only it were that easy the rest of the time!
Riding in Zwift, you’ll see yourself riding alongside other CIBA members. As you pedal, you’ll see the sights and sounds of London, Innsbruck, Richmond, or the made-up world of Watopia, wherever we decide to visit.
If that sounds like fun to you, you’ll need to sign yourself up for a Zwift account and a phone or computer to run the Zwift app. Zwift offers limited free trials and monthly memberships ($15). You’ll also need an indoor trainer and at least a speed and cadence sensor (or a power meter) for your bike. If you have a smart trainer, a Kickr for example, that’s all you need.
Then, to be able to join a CIBA group ride (or Meetup as it’s called in Zwift), you’ll need to “follow” Charlie Barrows in Zwift. We can then send you an invitation to the scheduled Meetup. When it’s time for the ride to start, get there early (Zwift doesn’t allow late starts! No getting to the parking lot 30 seconds too late!) Join the ride and start pedaling!
All you need:
Zwift account (monthly membership or short free trial you will need to register for yourself)
Speed and cadence sensor (or power meter or smart trainer)
Follow Charlie Barrows on Zwift
To help us get going, fill out the accompanying survey to determine the best time to schedule a ride or two.
Hope to see you riding online, CIBA!
